I finally got my Tour yesterday. The Operating System is 4.7. I can only compare this one to my Curve 8330 which was my first BB and served me well for nearly two years. This is a superb smartphone. The operating system is a markedly better one than the 4.5 that the Curve used. The faster processor and greater RAM make a major difference. The track ball is responsive and accurate. Perhaps, a track pad would be better, but this is great, so why worry. The display is beautiful, rich colors and excellent resolution. The browsers, native and Bolt, run fast and well.
I have read a lot of comments on the Tour that were negative. My only guess is that some people will never be happy no matter what they have. As a Verizon customer I can't get an iPhone or a 9700. I do believe that the Tour is essentially the 9700 without WiFi and a trackpad. I have never had a need for WiFi, I don't anticipate a change in my life that will necessitate it. Both the Bold 9700 and the Tour are great phones. Whatever problems existed with the early version of the Tour have been resolved. The battery door is solid, and the track ball responsive.
I have spoken to those who love their Storms and Storm 2s. The truth is there is no best Blackberry. The best Blackberry is the one that turns your crank. My Tour is doing that really well for me. I put it through its paces all day yesterday. It performed without a hiccup. I'm happy.
