The new and improved BlackBerry Messenger is here!

Hi Everyone, the new BlackBerry Messenger is here! What's new? You can share videos and calendar events. Make a group (I have one called "Super Friends") so you can chat with multiple people. And of course what we've all been waiting for: barcodes. Now you don't need to tell people your pin, you can just have them scan your barcode.

What are you waiting for, download it here: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/3729

I am really pleased with the new BBM. Groups area very interesting addition. I also like the fact that I can put an icon on my main screen for people and chat with them directly from the main screen.

I take it this is the official forum for BBM 5.0...ok, so I DL'd it on my Storm (OS 4.7) and it works great. I really enjoy all the features and scanning is a blast. If I'm missing something please advise.

Thanks.

I'm afraid my phone will crash if I download it since most Sprint customers are having that issue. = {

The issues I have seen are with people using an older OS. You need to be using OS 4.5.0.131 or newer. Some people using 4.5.0.66 and such have had the BBM icon disappear after installing. You also need to have at least 5MB of free memory, or the app will not install.

There really should be something in the install script to make sure a certain OS version is installed first, but that is not there.

As long as you are running at least 4.5.0.131, you should be good to go.
