Adding BBM barcodes as profile picture

I’ve been noticing a lot of discussions about posting barcodes and thought it would be easier to share your barcode if you post it as your profile picture.

To get your barcode:
-      Make sure you have BBM 5.0
-      In the app, go into the MENU and click MYPROFILE
-      Scroll to the bottom and click DISPLAY MY BARCODE
-      Go in to the menu and slick SAVE BARCODE IMAGE
-      Wherever it is saved, go in that folder and email it to yourself and then save it to your desktop

To post your barcode as your profile pic:
-      In MyBlackBerry, click on your name in the top left hand corner
-      Under your profile pic (the large one) click ADD A PROFILE PICTURE OF YOURSELF
-      Click BROWSE and select the photo
-      Click SAVE

I have BBM 5.0.8. When in the app, I go to options, scroll down and no where do I have Dispaly My Barcode or Save My Barcode Image. Help.

I am not able to install or use BBM. I have a Storm2 (9550) Core 5.0.0.320 and after I "ok'd" to replace the V4.7 w/the V5.0.0.33 it locked up and gave me an error during installation. Now it will not run at all. Since that I uninstalled and reinstalled, it and now it just freezes my device up when ever you try to do anything with it. I am not sure why the newest phone BB puts out cannot run any app's. This is nto the first app I have tried. The Storm2 is just buggy with all app's. i hope they fix this soon. I now have no BBM at all. /sadface

Hi Bobby

When you're in BBM, click on the BlackBerry button and select "My Profile". That should take you to a screen that has your pic, display name, status message, pin and at the very bottom a link that says "Display My Barcode."

Hi Zipman,

/sadface indeed. What is the error message you are getting? Have you posted your issue to the BlackBerry Support Forums? I scanned briefly and didn't see anyone posting a similar issue, so it might be a good idea to see if the people over there have a solution (and then let us know!)

Hi Becky:

Let me start by saying I am using the Tour on Sprint, OS 4.7.1.57 and BBM 5.0.8. When in BBM, the closest I have is "Edit My Info" which has similar information as you outlined, but no Display My Barcode. Do I have an older version of BBM? Thanks for trying to help me out.

That is bizarre! Are you sure you have the official download (the number you provided is not the same number that I have)? I would recommend uninstalling the one you have now and then reinstalling the official one - http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/3729. Don't forget to backup your contacts first!
